Monti Sehmi currently resides in Orange County, California and has been dancing professionally and competitively throughout the United States for several years now. His dance interests include Bhangra, Hindi Film and Hip Hop. In 2004 Monti co-founded a professional bhangra team known as Sher Foundation which competes and performs throughout North America and has won numerous awards and acclaim for their innovative and creative style. Monti Sehmi has also performed with Lethal Bhangra Crew (LBC) a more traditionally rooted Bhangra team which has won many accolades. Monti is also the coach of a junior bhangra team which is based out of Irvine, California. During his Bhangra endeavors Monti Sehmi has had the privilege to perform with special guest artists such as Ar Rahman, Sukhwinder Singh, RDB, Malkit Singh, Juggy D and many more.
Monti has also performed with NDM Dance Productions which has been involved in many Hollywood shows and productions. In 2009, Monti Sehmi joined forces with NDM Productions and represented Slumdog Millionaire’s Jai Ho soundtrack on the Red Carpet at the Oscars! Monti also helped choreograph Team India’s group dance performance in NBC’s Superstars of dance which aired in January 2009.
Monti Sehmi is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton where he completed his degree in Business and majored in Accounting. He has also received a graduate certificate in Project Management from the University of California, Irivine. Monti is currently pursuing his certification as a Certified Public Accountant and will be attending graduate school for a Masters degree this fall.
Monti Sehmi was born and brought up in Brunei Darussalam in South East Asia until the age of fifteen and then moved with his twin brother to Malaysia for two years before arriving to the United States in 2001. Monti Sehmi is able to speak Chinese (Mandarin), Bahasa Melayu, English, Punjabi, and Hindi.
